Northampton Town has signed Luke Mbete on a season-long loan from Manchester City. The 20-year-old defender joins the Cobblers for the 2024/25 campaign. The loan move does not include an option to make the transfer permanent. Manchester City stated: “Luke Mbete has joined League One side Northampton Town on a season-long loan. The versatile centre-half, who joined City as an Under-12, will link up with the Cobblers for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.” Northampton Town manager Jon Brady said: “We are very pleased to bring Luke in. He is very highly rated by Manchester City and we thank them for trusting us to continue the development of one of their young players.” Mbete has previously spent time on loan at Huddersfield Town, Bolton Wanderers, and FC Den Bosch. He made his first-team debut for Manchester City in the Carabao Cup in 2021. The defender has also featured in the UEFA Champions League and FA Cup for Pep Guardiola’s side. | Stat | Value | | Age | 20 | | Loan Duration | Season-long | | Previous Loans | Huddersfield Town, Bolton Wanderers, FC Den Bosch
