Northampton Town's proposal for a 19-acre warehouse development on land adjacent to Sixfields stadium has been recommended for approval by West Northamptonshire Council. The development, which includes seven warehouses with capacity for 11 separate tenants, is expected to bring financial stability to the club. Northampton Town chairman Kelvin Thomas said the recommendation was a significant step for the football club, citing the financial challenges faced by all football clubs. The development will also create employment opportunities for the local community. The council's planning committee will make a final decision on the scheme on 25 February. The proposed warehouses will range in height from 9m to 17m, with the largest backing onto the perimeter of the East Stand at Sixfields. Part of the land due to be developed was formerly a running track occupied by Rugby & Northampton Athletic Club. The council's planning committee report disclosed that St James Spencer Residents Association and Northampton Town Football Club Supporters Trust had raised objections to the scheme. The recommendation for approval is welcome news for the club, which finally opened its new East Stand at the ground last year after a decade-long construction saga. The development is expected to have a positive impact on the local community, with the creation of new job opportunities. Northampton Town's financial stability is crucial for the club's success in League One. The club's chairman, Kelvin Thomas, has expressed his delight at the recommendation, stating that it is wonderful news for the club. The final decision on the scheme will be made at a meeting of the council's strategic planning committee on 25 February.
