Northampton Town boss Chris Hogg believes in permanent signings to develop the club's own players.
What happened?
The Cobblers managed to strike a loan deal with Lincoln City for goalkeeper Zach Jeacock, but their other two signings, Harvey Saunders and James Maxwell, were free agents.
Hogg told BBC Radio Northampton that his long-term focus will be on permanent signings, as loan signings from Premier League and Championship clubs may be delayed due to the World Cup in North America.
Why it matters for Northampton Town
The club's fortunes will not turn around overnight, but Hogg is working to improve things, with a gradual process on and off the pitch. | Stat | Value | | League | League Two | | Manager | Chris Hogg |
What comes next?
Northampton will find out their fixture list for their return to League Two on Thursday morning. Hogg indicated that identifying key players and getting ahead of the game in terms of preparation is crucial for the club's success. The former Norwich City assistant boss was appointed on a two-year contract by the Cobblers on 18 May, following last season's relegation from League One.
