What happened?
The Cobblers dominated the early exchanges, with Jake Evans twice denied by Posh goalkeeper Alex Bass. Lee Burge was alert to keep out James Dornelly at the other end. Burge also produced a sharp stop from Kyrell Lisbie. Northampton were the better team in the first half, with a towering Eaves header from Tyrese Fornah's cross on the stroke of half-time giving them a deserved lead.
Why it matters for Northampton Town
Peterborough were back on level terms within seven minutes of the restart, when Lisbie tore away down the left and squared for Jimmy-Jay Morgan to finish in the middle. Michael Forbes missed a good chance to restore Northampton's lead. Bass blocked from Evans, and the Posh keeper was also quick off his line to smother the ball at Terry Taylor's feet. Despite pushing, Northampton could not find a winner.
